Boiler Furnaces

There really is no such thing as a "boiler furnace." You either have a boiler or a furnace.

With a furnace or warm air system, air is used to conduct heat from the furnace to rooms in the house. Air is warmed as it passes over a heat exchanger, and then blown throughout the house by a motorized blower. Sheet metal ducts channel the heated air to various areas of the house, and the heat enters each room through registers. Boilers, or hydronic heating systems, use heated water to supply heat to the rooms in the house.

Boilers send steam through pipes to steam radiators or hot water through baseboard radiators, radiant floor systems, snowmelt systems or pool heaters. Weil McLain can assist you in choosing the correct boiler or furnace for your home.

Boiler Heaters

Boilers use heated water to supply either steam or hot water for heating. Boilers send steam through pipes to steam radiators or hot water through baseboard radiators or radiant floor systems or a coil.

Boiler heaters maintain comfort in your home with hot water circulating to every room. The system consists of a boiler, pump and baseboards connected by water piping. The boiler heats water to temperatures between 120° and 210°, and the water is then pumped through the piping in the baseboards located around the outer perimeter of the home for a curtain of warmth, or in the floor in radiant systems.

Radiant systems are special composite plastic piping systems embedded in the floor. The energy from the heated water in the pipes radiates to the surrounding environment, warming the floors, furniture and anyone in the room. Cold tile floors become warm and inviting, and they provide maximum decorating versatility – you do not have to worry about where to put furniture in radian applications.

Boiler Heating Systems

A boiler heating system is a system that uses a boiler to heat and circulate water, which distributes heat throughout a home or building.

The system consists of a boiler, pump and baseboards connected by water piping. The boiler heats water to temperatures between 120° and 210°, and the water is then pumped through the piping in the baseboards located around the outer perimeter of the home for a curtain of warmth, or in the floor in radiant systems.

Weil-McLain® boilers can be used in space conditioning, radiant, or snow melting applications, or with an indirect fired water heater for an ample supply of domestic hot water.

Boiler Manufacturers

From the time the company was founded in 1881, Weil-McLain has been the leading manufacturer of comfort heating. Building on a proud tradition of quality and innovation, our mission remains simple:

To design and build the best comfort heating products on the market. To make them first. And to make them last.

With its headquarters and foundry in Michigan City, Indiana with its assembly facility in Eden, North Carolina and over 700 employees worldwide, Weil-McLain combines hydronic heating expertise with the responsiveness of our service and support operations. Our ongoing success is a testament to our commitment to providing nothing less than the best.

Central Boilers

Central boilers use heated water to supply hot water or steam heat throughout an entire home from a centralized location, typically in a basement or garage. A central boiler eliminates the need for individual room or space heaters, and is an energy-efficient method of total home heating.

Weil-McLain® boilers can be used in space conditioning, radiant, or snow melting applications, or with an indirect fired water heater for an almost endless supply of domestic hot water.

Condensing Boilers

A condensing boiler is a hot water heating system designed to recover energy normally discharged through the chimney as waste. How it works is the water vapor produced by the burning of gas in the boiler condenses back into liquid water releasing the latent heat of vaporization from the water. Because latent heat is a more significant source of energy, condensing boilers have efficiency ratings up to 98%.

Weil-McLain offers the Ultra Gas condensing boiler with efficiency ratings up to 98% in low water temperature applications.

Energy-Efficient Boilers

A boiler is considered energy-efficient when it deliver the same or better performance as comparable models while using less energy and saving money.

Weil-McLain has several energy-efficient boilers, furnaces and air conditioners that will meet all of your home heating and home cool equipment needs.

For more information on energy-efficient heating products, visit www.energystar.gov.

Energy Efficient Hot Water Heaters

An estimated 15% of a home's utility costs can be contributed to water heating.

Weil-McLain's indirect fired water heaters are an energy-efficient alternative to standard water heaters.

They use the hot water generated by a boiler to heat domestic hot water, and typically provide at least 50% more hot water at lower operating costs than direct fired water heaters. They also include a limited lifetime warranty.

Energy Star Boilers

In 1992, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) introduced ENERGY STAR® as a voluntary labeling program designed to identify and promote energy-efficient products to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These products deliver the same or better performance as comparable models while using less energy and saving money. ENERGY STAR® qualified boilers have annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) ratings of 90% or greater.

Weil-McLain has several ENERGY STAR® rated boilers, furnaces and air conditioners that will meet all of your home heating and home cool equipment needs, and help to prevent global warming through cleaner air.

Gas Hot Water Heaters

A water storage vessel (also known as a tank) that utilizes a gas burner to directly heat domestic water. Typical domestic uses of hot water are cooking, cleaning, bathing and space heating.

Another type of gas hot water heater is an indirect water heater. Designed to operate only with boilers, these gas hot water heaters use the hot water generated by a boiler to heat domestic hot water. Indirect water heaters typically provide at least 50% more hot water at lower operating costs than direct fired water heaters.

High-Efficiency Boilers

High efficiency boilers are boilers with annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) ratings of 84% or greater. Some Weil-McLain ENERGY STAR® rated boilers score as high as 95% AFUE.

Weil-McLain® high efficiency boilers use less fuel, saving you money. Our Ultra Gas boiler uses a variable speed motor, which allow for fewer starts and stops saving energy and increasing the life of the boiler.

A high efficiency boiler from Weil-McLain® can provide you with lower energy costs, a more comfortable home and years of trouble-free operation.
