Weil-McLain® Launches Simplicity High-Efficiency Combi Boiler: The Simple Choice for Heat and Hot Water

September 30, 2024

Burr Ridge, Ill. – (September 30, 2024) – Weil-McLain®, a leader in hydronic comfort heating solutions, introduces the new Simplicity™ high-efficiency combination gas boiler. Featuring leading-edge hydronic technology for residential applications, the unit combines the warmth of high-efficiency space heating and the convenience of on-demand domestic hot water (DHW) in a reliable, cost-effective and easy-to-install package.

“This advanced combi boiler meets the growing consumer demand for budget-friendly, durable heating solutions and appeals to installers who prioritize versatility and ease of maintenance and service with readily available parts,” said Michael Boyd, product manager with Weil-McLain. “With this introduction, customers are getting a unit with a wide range of desirable features to deliver energy efficient heat and domestic hot water in a sleek, compact design at an affordable price point.”

The Simplicity boiler features a 95% AFUE energy rating that reduces energy consumption and increases savings on homeowners’ heating bills, an insulated stainless-steel firetube heat exchanger with a vertical “self-rinsing” orientation and a removable polypropylene collector base that prevents corrosion caused by acidic condensate to help ensure a long service life. An air inlet silencer provides whisper quiet operation and a touchscreen display with user-friendly controls makes installation and navigation easy for contractors and homeowners.

“The Simplicity combi boiler is available in sizes of 110, 150 and 199 MBH and can provide whole-home heating for small and large residences alike,” added Boyd. “The 199 MBH combi boiler can produce 5.3 gallons per minute at a 70-degree rise, which is enough to supply hot water to run two showers, a dishwasher and a faucet simultaneously.”

The versatility of the Simplicity combi boiler is a key differentiator in the marketplace for contractors, distributors and homeowners alike. Although it’s designed to be a combi boiler, Simplicity can be installed and operated as a heat-only unit. This means that if a customer’s existing tank water heater is relatively new, the contractor can install the Simplicity combi as a space-heating-only boiler now and then return later to connect the water lines to the built-in combi-block for DHW heating when the tank water heater fails. Moreover, all Simplicity boilers are “heat pump ready,” seamlessly integrating with a hybrid dual fuel hydronic system. This allows climate-conscious households to add an electric heat pump later, reduce their carbon footprint and take advantage of any available federal or local rebates. Contractors who are members of The Weil-McLain Advantage™ program can also register any Simplicity boiler they install to earn more rewards and marketing development funds to drive growth and brand awareness.

For distributors, the Simplicity boiler simplifies stocking, reduces the cost of inventory and mitigates the risk of supply chain issues because only one boiler and one set of parts are needed for heating and hot water applications. The Simplicity unit also offers homeowners peace of mind and long-term savings because the boiler can be installed as a heat-only unit, and then converted into a combi boiler if/when the need for DHW heating arises.

The Simplicity combi boiler features a straightforward cabinet design that simplifies service and maintenance while also streamlining the installation process. With fewer pipes and less connection points, set up time is significantly reduced, eliminating the requirement to connect a separate hot water tank or tankless water heater. Other features of the boiler include:

  • Variable speed blower that self-adjusts to match the immediate need while providing a quieter operation
  • Unique 3-in-1 vent adapter that readily accepts 3” PVC, Polypropylene or stainless-steel vent materials to save costs on transition parts
  • DHW brazed plate heat exchanger with heavy-duty cast brass manifolds to ensure longevity
  • Built-in ECM circulator that uses less electric energy than a standard circulator, saving the homeowner money year after year

“Developed with the contractor in mind, the Simplicity boiler family showcases the quality, durability, serviceability and innovation that our customers have come to expect from Weil-McLain and demonstrates our commitment to industry-leading hydronic heating performance,” said Boyd.

All units are tested and certified to the industry’s highest standards and include a warranty of up to ten years on the primary heat exchanger and up to five years on parts with registration.
